About
Your value chain partner for cultivating multipurpose energy crops & food crops, creating impact & delivering sustainable solutions.
Doycker is a project development and agritech organization established and domiciled in The Netherlands, with activities in developing regions. Our focus is to create a positive impact by developing sustainable agriculture projects for the production of valuable feedstock for a wide variety of sectors. We do so by cooperating together with national governments to help transforming degraded land, help stimulate local economies, and by adding value to the sustainable ambitions of our partners.

Doycker is currently active in Suriname with the development of large scale plantations. Together with the national government and local partners we work on revitalizing the agricultural sector with the introduction of multipurpose energy crops & food crops, yield optimizing best practices, and by regenerating degraded areas.

About
focus

Our Focus.

We commit to restoring a minimum of +30.000 hectare of degraded land, planting 18 million trees together with 18 million plants, delivering sustainable feedstock, and adding value to global sustainable ambitions.

Our first plantation will indirectly compensate the CO2 emissions of 16.000 inhabitants. Our long term ambition is to compensate the CO2 emissions of an entire nation!

Sourcing

We develop sustainable regenerative agriculture projects on marginal land, abandoned land, and degraded land. We have a strong focus on sourcing (sub)tropical deforested areas to restimulate carbon sequestration and to restore the damaged areas by planting large numbers of trees and plants with soil regenerative characteristics. We are constantly in contact with national governments to identify and restore deforested areas with our trees, and we envision to add value to global ambitions to reduce co2 emissions by planting 18 million trees in the next 10 years.

Non-food Feedstock

We have gained extensive knowledge and experience on the cultivation of elite Pongamia trees on a large scale. The seeds of the trees have a high oil content, and provide feedstock opportunities for animal feed, high value biochemicals and advanced biofuels. The tree will grow on soils not suited for broadacre crops and will tolerate salinity and flooding. More importantly, Pongamia is a legume that supplies its own nitrogen, has low costs and has proven soil regenerative characteristics. The Pongamia tree has proven to produce a higher yield than crops as Palm and Soy, and is more energy efficient.

Intercropping

The simultaneous cultivation of multiple crops allows us to increase yields and manage the land in a more sustainable manner. We have identified several crops to combine with the cultivation of the elite Pongamia trees. By doing so, we do not solely focus on producing energy crops on abandonded lands. The multipurpose crop Moringa also gives us the opportinity to provide a food source that will sustainably feed the population locally and globally. The flowering of a variety of crops will add value to local insect diversity including pollinators.

Carbon Sequestration

Pongamia is a fast growing tree that produces seeds with a wide variety of applications. During its growth and when matured the trees on average sequester vast amounts of co2. There are several ways in which growing pongamia reduces the output of greenhouse gases. Pongamia produces oil, pods and protein meal, while the trees sequester carbon. In the case of the protein meal, there is potential to reduce methane emissions when feeding it to beef cattle. Soil organic matter is likely to increase on the land where Pongamia is growing. Furthermore the use of mineral oil is replaced when the pongamia oil is used for the production of fuels.

Developing Communities

Doycker commits to cooperate with local service providers and work with inhabitants to develop the agriculture projects. Our projects create fulltime jobs and allow locals to generate a sustainable income while learning new skills and gaining experience in the fields of agriculture and processing. We form partnerships with national education and research institutions for knowledge sharing and a successful implementation of sustainable agricultural practises that will further benefit local communities and stimulate local economies.

Our Partners.

Doycker partners with industry leaders, national governments and research institutions for the cultivation of the crops, the management of the plantations, and for realizing global sustainable ambitions.
